Well we were in DC this week to look for an apartment! I flew in to Baltimore, while Lisa drove down to meet me there. We stayed at my friend Mike's apartment who isn't too far away from the airport. Lisa starts work on Oct. 26th so we had to get the ball rolling as fast as possible, so we figured we would spend a day looking and use a second day to sign the lease for the apartment we decided upon.
After spending 9am to 5pm looking at 6 apartments we easily narrowed down our decision to two. A brand new high rise apartment in downtown Silver Spring, or a 5 year old mid rise apartment in suburban Bethesda. It was a very hard decision because both apartments brought different things to the table. The Silver Spring apartment was probably the nicest apartment I had ever seen. 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths with a den. Granite counters in both the kitchen and bathroom. under mount kitchen sink, his and her walk in closets. It was amazing! with this amazement came cost though and was also not in our ideal location. The Bethesda apartment did not bring shock and awe, but it was definitely above average for an apartment in our opinion. It was only 1 bedroom and one bath, but it had his and her closets, a soaking tub, tons of cabinet space, and all the other necessities. It was located more ideally for us, and was significantly cheaper than the Silver Spring apartment. After weighing the pro's and con's we decided on the suburban apartment in Bethesda.
Overall it was a productive trip, and it was good to see Mike again. We are moving in Oct. 21st so its going to be a busy next few weeks. I'll try to remember to post pictures when we get settled in.
